The weather will cool down Thursday November 21, 2024 in Brittany and Morbihan. Southern Brittany should be spared from snow, but two vigilances are triggered. The weather update.
Two vigilances Thursday
Météo France places the Morbihan department on yellow alert for “wind” and “snow-ice” on Thursday November 21, 2024.
The first vigilance is valid from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the second from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m.
According to Guillaume Séchet, based on the ICON-EU model at 6 a.m. UT, the Caetano depression will circulate from the south of Brittany. Gusts above 100 km/h are expected. “It will snow in the plains over a strip of around 200 to 300 km north of this depression (in the cold air),” adds the meteorologist. Morbihan is not in the snow corridor.
The coastline spared?
“It was still mild these last few days. The fresh air will increase. The weather will be colder and colder with a winter day,” indicates Sébastien Decaux, meteorologist at Météo Bretagne.
A huge air mass conflict is expected over the region. A risk of snow concerns part of Brittany, in particular Côtes-d'Armor, Central Brittany and the interior of Ille-et-Vilaine. A layer on the ground is possible in these sectors (to be refined). The southern coast would stay away.
According to Stéven Tual, meteorologist for Temps Breton, at 9 a.m. Wednesday, “northern Brittany is exposed to a risk of snow falling on the ground for Thursday. It is more uncertain in the south since powerful gentle westerly winds would prevent the rain turning to snow.”
Difficult traffic conditions
In the northern Morbihanyou will still have to stay prudent if you take the road.
The departmental council, which manages departmental roads, calls for “greater caution” when traveling due to winter traffic conditions for the night from Wednesday 20 to Thursday 21 November 2024 with “temperatures close to 0°C and the presence of humidity which can make the roads slippery”.
