Heavy storm rain, and all eyes turn towards rue Bourke, in Lorient (Morbihan). The Merville sector and Avenue Jean-Jaurès are the subject of a work of reflection with the services of Lorient Agglomération – for the sanitation part – to improve the quality of the water circuit.

“It was once considered creating a retention basin near Dupuy-de-Lômerecalled Fabrice Loher, during the presentation point of the council this Thursday, June 27, 2024. We ultimately did not choose this option, as it was far too expensive. »

Preventing flooding episodes

The side alleys of rue Jean-Jaurès will be redeveloped, in particular to clarify bicycle circulation too close to the entrances to homes.

Moreover, “we have a dual objective of renaturing and dewaterproofing the side paths to prevent episodes of flooding and marine submersion”, explained Laure Dechavanne, deputy in charge of roads, green spaces and plant reclamation.

Around €600,000

Plant valleys will be created, as well as filtering trenches in the side paths.

Plantings and permeable coverings such as asphalt and draining paving stones will be installed.

The cost of the project is estimated at €600,000.

Work is scheduled to begin in the fall and is expected to last approximately five months.
