This Sunday, June 30 and Sunday, July 7, 2024, during the legislative elections, the French are invited to elect the 577 deputies sitting in the National Assembly.

The 1st constituency of Charente-Maritime

The first constituency of Charente-Maritime is made up of the cantons of Ars-en-Ré, La Rochelle I, La Rochelle II, La Rochelle III, La Rochelle IV, La Rochelle V, La Rochelle VI, La Rochelle VII, La Rochelle VIII, La Rochelle IX, and Saint-Martin-de-Ré.

The second constituency of Charente-Maritime is made up of the cantons of Aigrefeuille-d’Aunis, Aytré, Courçon, La Jarrie, Marans, Rochefort Centre, Rochefort Nord, Rochefort Sud, and Surgères.

The five candidates:

The third constituency of Charente-Maritime is made up of the cantons of Aulnay, Burie, Loulay, Matha, Saint-Hilaire-de-Villefranche, Saint-Jean-d’Angély, Saint-Savinien, Saintes est (less the communes of Colombiers and La Jard), Saintes north, Saintes west, and Tonnay-Boutonne.

The fifth constituency of Charente-Maritime is made up of the cantons of Château-d’Oléron, Marennes, Royan West, Saint-Agnant, Saint-Pierre-d’Oléron, Saint-Porchaire, Saujon, Tonnay-Charente and La Tremblade.

The four candidates:

How do legislative elections work?

As a reminder, to be elected in the first round, a candidate must obtain more than 50% of the votes cast and a number of votes at least equal to 25% of the number of registered voters. If no candidate is elected in the first round, this Sunday, June 30, a second will be organized a week later.

In the second round, only certain candidates can run: those who came in first, and the following candidates who obtained a number of votes at least equal to 12.5% ​​of the number of registered voters. In the second round, on Sunday, July 7, 2024, the candidate who obtained the greatest number of votes will be elected as a member of parliament.
