The DNCG has decided on the administrative relegation of FC Rouen. A decision which “will inevitably lead to the filing of bankruptcy” of the club, according to its president Iwan Postel.

FC Rouen was administratively relegated from National (3rd level) to National 2 by the National Directorate of Management Control on Thursday, which “will inevitably lead to filing for bankruptcy” of the club, according to a letter from its president Iwan Postel to the DNCG, of which AFP obtained a copy.

“I acknowledge receipt of your communication concerning the demotion of the FRC to National Championship 2 at the end of the 2023/2024 season”first of all writes Mr. Postel who took the reins of the quarter-finalist club in the last Coupe de France after its purchase by a Turkish businessman, Tarkan Ser, at the beginning of June.

Mr. Ser, who manages a private jet company, had bought the shares of Charles Maarek, a French businessman active in particular in real estate, and who is the subject of an investigation for misuse of corporate assets. The new bosses of the Norman club, which has more than two million euros in debt, thought they had provided all the documents proving its financial stability but, despite a budget revised downwards, to 3.8 million euros compared to 4 .8 M EUR, but the financial policeman of French football has cracked down.

«unprecedented gravity”

In his very lively letter, Iwan Postel denounces a decision “of unprecedented severity, (which) will inevitably lead to the filing of bankruptcy for the FCR and mark the beginning of a descent into hell well beyond the National Championship 2”. “I find it incomprehensible and deeply unfair that our case was treated with discriminatory severity”he continued, nevertheless considering that he had brought a “proposal for immediate and substantial recovery, accompanied by concrete financial contributions”.

Considering that “nothing will probably change” the position of the DNCG, it will not “no appeal of this decision” and clearly suggests that investors will not proceed with the capital increase that would allow the club’s debts to be settled.
