In a world where local services are becoming increasingly rare, Jonathan Héritier has found an original way to meet the needs of residents of rural communities. For five years, this traveling hairdresser has been traveling the roads of Haute-Loire and Puy-de-Dôme aboard his mobile salon, a four-wheeled “Hair Bus”. That morning, he stopped at Cohade for the day. The hairdresser is always ready to show you his unusual salon. “There is the waiting room, the hairdressing area with a shampoo corner and a cutting corner”, he describes.

For almost twenty years, Jonathan worked in traditional salons. In 2020, he decided to embark on the adventure of homelessness, an approach motivated by a recurring observation: “In the salon where I worked, the clients were getting older. It was becoming more and more difficult for them to move around. I told myself that it was time for us to move to offer them this service directly to their homes.

Michel is part of this clientele. At the time he met Jonathan, this octogenarian had health problems and was bedridden. He remembers: “He arrived in his camper van in front of my house and did my hair. I couldn’t believe it.”

Every week, the traveling show heads to around ten communes in Haute-Loire. The inhabitants of Puy-de-Dôme, around Issoire and Brassac-les-Mines, also benefit from this visit. Jonathan Héritier confides: “I am happy to bring joy and good humor to the villages, to revitalize these places. It reminds me a little of the baker of old. I feel a little in his place, 20 years later. And I have a blast every day.”

Thanks to this initiative, more than 500 people now rely on Jonathan to get a makeover, without having to travel miles.
