During the next Paris Council, which will take place from Tuesday November 19 to Friday November 22, 2024, the City will unveil its fourth Climate Planin order to guarantee the viability of the capital in the near future. On this occasion, the majority will also present its new resilience strategy to prepare Paris and its inhabitants for the shocks to come. With the aim of raising awareness among Parisians, the town hall offers the general public a immersive experience plunging the participants to +50°C.
Peaks of 50°C in Paris in the years to come?
The objective of this simulation is to alert public opinion of the dangers of global warming on the daily life and health of residents. Already in 2023, the City of Paris had carried out a full-scale crisis exercise entitled “Paris at 50°C” with several hundred of participants.
Indeed, according to climatologists from expert group on climate change in Île-de-France, extreme heatwaves with peaks at 50°C could occur in Paris in the coming decades, if emissions of greenhouse gas continue at the current pace.
For this new experiencethe City of Paris, alongside the Human Adaptation Institute, this time offers the general public the opportunity to come and test « Climate Sense ». Participants will be immersed in an immersive environment at +50°C and will be invited to carry out physical activities and cognitive, like our daily lives, in these conditions.
Touch the emotions
As part of this new experiment, “Climate Sense” is banking on sensoriality and emotions that it inspires to encourage change in behavior in the face of climate change.
Located at 3 rue de Lobau (4e), the “Climate Sense” capsule will be open to the public from Tuesday 19 to Thursday 21 November. The experiment is subject to a medical questionnaire beforehand, and it is advisable to bring a change of clothes.
