Vlad M., suspected of the kidnapping of his ex-partner, is on trial this June 27 before the Hauts de Seine assizes. He would have badly digested his breakup with the victim and would have wanted to steal her bitcoins…

The lure of profit was too strong… A 55-year-old Romanian must appear before the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court on June 27, for the kidnapping of his ex-partner on January 28, 2021. He allegedly entered the the victim’s apartment in Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts de Seine), allegedly tied him up, stripped him naked then severely beaten him, in particular by crushing his face. A neighbor, alerted by a scream, called the police. But when the police arrived, they heard nothing. After several vain attempts to open the door, they turn back. In the morning, a delivery man drops off some groceries for him but still nothing. It was her boyfriend who discovered her around 6 p.m. So swollen and in shock, she cannot be heard. She is also placed in an artificial coma in the hospital.

Those close to the victim immediately point the finger at her ex-companion, a certain Franco Rinaldi, with whom she broke up in 2019. A breakup that the man would not have digested. He allegedly harassed him by message and by going to his workplace, which was confirmed by video surveillance cameras. But after some research, investigators discover that Franco Rinaldi does not exist. However, they managed to trace it back to a certain Vlad M., a 52-year-old Romanian who has lived in France since he was 22 and who used a false identity.

He brings an accomplice from Romania

In 2021, the suspect would have been in great financial difficulty. But a solution presents itself to him. Vlad M. had introduced the young woman to cryptocurrencies, which would have brought the victim nearly €50,000. He therefore decides to take a hotel in Neuilly-sur-Seine to win back his sweetheart… and her money. He decides to protect his back by contacting a certain Mihaïl D. through a friend. The latter is Romanian and goes to France expressly to help Vlad M. “go get stuff” et “intimidate” to the victims.

Mihaïl M. claims to have remained in front of the apartment when Vlad M. entered. He allegedly hit him directly in the face and asked him to stop hitting the young woman while she was on the ground. He was sent back to Romania and was reportedly threatened.

No memory of the attack

If his accomplice is heard in February 2022, Vlad M. is incarcerated from February 2021. A search found the victim’s phone, a USB key, and two pairs of sneakers that he had stolen from the young woman. Traces of blood were also found on his clothes. The pedometer on his phone helped confirm his presence at the crime scene.

If the judgment of his executioners is a relief for his lawyer, the victim remains “very anxious”describes Me Fabien Arakélian. The young woman still has neurocognitive after-effects that have obscured the assault. Six months ago, she thought she had been in a car accident. She will have to confront the suspects on June 27 before the assizes. Vlad M. and Mihaïl D. risk fifteen years in prison, respectively for “kidnapping and violence followed by permanent disability”, and “failure to prevent a crime and failure to assist a person in danger”.
