Farmers demonstrate this Tuesday, November 19, in Lot-et-Garonne.

Daniel Barnier, prefect of Lot-et-Garonne, received union representatives from Rural Coordination this afternoon. This meeting allowed them to reiterate their demands which mainly relate to the over-transposition of European standards, the reduction of employer contributions and the cost of energy.

The Prefect reviewed all the agricultural support measures implemented at national and departmental level since the start of the year. He also recalled the comments of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty regarding the overtransposition of standards.

On this occasion, the Prefect announced the new exemptions from the requirements of Good Agricultural and Environmental Conditions (GAEC) 6 and 7 this fall, granted very recently by the General Directorate of Economic and Environmental Performance of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forest Sovereignty. They make it possible to waive the obligation to cover the ground in winter and grow back to 1is December the obligation of crop rotation.

He also recalled the constant work done by state services in favor of farmers and indicated that their demands presented during this exchange would be transmitted today to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry.

At the end of an interview lasting more than 5 hours with the Prefect, the Departmental Director of Territories and the Departmental Director of Employment, Work, Solidarity and Population Protection, representatives of the Lot Rural Coordination -et-Garonne refused to leave the prefecture and had to be escorted by the police, without incident.

Since his arrival in the department, Daniel Barnier, prefect of Lot-et-Garonne, has regularly met Lot-et-Garonne farmers on their farms and maintains a permanent dialogue with all the representatives of the different agricultural sectors that he wants to be able to actively pursue it.
