Sunday morning, a 25-year-old young woman was discovered seriously injured and in a state of shock in a street in the Croix Dampierre district, in Châlons-en-Champagne (Marne). The facts, of rare violence, led the Châlons public prosecutor's office to open an investigation for “kidnapping, kidnapping and attempted rape leading to mutilation or permanent disability”.
An attack of incredible savagery
Around 6:40 a.m., the victim was rescued on rue Jacques-Prévert, bleeding and seriously injured. According to information reported by L'Union, she had numerous wounds, including a cut ear, a severed finger and a slashed face. A neighbor, alerted by screams, reportedly saw a man hitting the victim near a parking lot. On site, investigators found significant traces of blood, testifying to the extreme brutality of the attack.
The young woman was treated by firefighters before being transported to hospital. Although her vital prognosis is not in jeopardy, she remains in serious condition.
An investigation targeting a suspect known for rape
According to information from Le Parisien, the main suspect could be the owner of a white utility vehicle found abandoned in a canal, not far from the scene of the attack. In the vehicle, a trace of blood was found between the passenger seat and the driver's seat. The owner of this utility vehicle, unfavorably known to the police for rape, is actively sought. Investigators are trying to establish a link between this individual and the young woman.
A mobilization of specialized forces
The investigation, entrusted to the Local Judicial Police Service (SLPJ) of Châlons-en-Champagne and the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS) of Reims, mobilizes significant resources. The exact circumstances of this attack remain to be clarified, but the facts have already aroused strong emotion among residents.
