Skate culture comes to Paris for a unique and free exhibition to be discovered for two days only. Entitled “Skateboard Culture Exhibition”, this event awaits all lovers of this board sport in an urban environment, on Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8, 2024, in a gallery in the 3rd arrondissement.
The skateboard is taking place this fall in Paris! For two days only, come discover the rich culture around skateboarding during a unique and free exhibitionsimply titled “ Skateboard Culture L’exposition ».
To discover the Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December 2024 in a gallery in the Marais, located rue du Temple, this installation follows the publication of the book “Skateboard Culture”, available from Éditions du Chêne since November 6.
The opportunity to admire in real life the photos of J. Grant Brittainconsidered one of the most emblematic photographers of the new wave of the 1970s. Exhibited for the first time in France, the photographs highlight skate culture and allow us to better understand the craze that has surrounded this practice for several decades .
Half sport, half artistic expression, the skateboard truly exploded in the 1970s. A symbol of rebellion in its beginnings, the practice of skateboarding then found its way into fashion, photography, music, design and cinema, becoming a strong element of pop culture.
Skateboarding, which has allowed big names to emerge, such as Tony Hawk, Jay Adams and Rodney Mullen, was even honored during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Much more than a simple sport, skateboard has become a true sign of belonging. A symbol of society that galerie 78 Templein the Marais in Paris, invites you to discover for free on December 7 and 8, 2024. In a 250 m² space, come and immerse yourself in the world of skateboarding through a series of photos, films, objects and meetings, all in one exhibition curated par Morgan Bouvant et Sébastien Carayol.
In addition to these exclusive photographs of J. Grant Brittainthe exhibition will offer in the center of the gallery the “Skateboard Culture Stand” where visitors will be able to find limited edition books and capsule collections on sale: Element (t-shirts, sweats, skateboards, roues, bonnets, mugs), Ed Banger (sweatshirts and T-shirts, skateboards) or even caps and t-shirts, all created especially for the occasion with the image of “Skateboard Culture”. On the first floor of the gallery, films will be shown, including “Ollie” by Antoine Besse, in preview.
