A 21-year-old young man was seriously injured by gunfire in the street this Saturday evening in the Notre-Dame-des-Marins city in (Bouches-du-Rhône). Hit in the abdomen, he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later in hospital, we learned
News17.

This attempted murder took place shortly after 10 p.m. The seriously injured young man was quickly treated by emergency services. Another person was injured in one hand by a shot or bullet shrapnel, according to our information. The latter would be a collateral victim. A Renault Mégane, which was clearly the vehicle used by the attackers, was found burned shortly after the events in Martigues, again according to our information. This car had been reported stolen since October and was falsely registered.

The police carried out lengthy investigations on site. Two grenades were discovered, they were allegedly thrown by the attackers but were demilitarized.

An investigation has been opened into charges of murder, aggravated violence, criminal conspiracy, theft and concealment of aggravated theft, destruction of property by dangerous means, possession, carrying and prohibited transport of firearms, indicates the public prosecutor from Aix-en-Provence, Jean-Luc Blachon. Concerning the second injured person, the magistrate specifies that he is not able to “guarantee at this stage that this is a collateral victim, even if this remains probable”. The investigations were entrusted to police officers from the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS). The suspicion of an act against a backdrop of drug trafficking is favored.

At the end of October, a 34-year-old man was shot dead with a Kalashnikov in the Martigues garage where he worked.
