This Tuesday, fifteen Senegalese employees of the Chinese telephone company Tecno gathered at the École Normale roundabout to protest against their dismissal which they consider unfair.

Among them, some had permanent contracts and claim to have been abruptly dismissed, without notice or concrete justification. “We woke up one morning, deprived of work, without a valid explanation,” laments one of the demonstrators.

According to the testimonies collected, management accuses the employees concerned of having embezzled sums of money, ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 FCFA. However, the plaintiffs strongly contest these accusations, which they describe as unfounded. “No evidence has been presented to justify these allegations,” they are indignant.

Faced with this situation, efforts to obtain clarifications led to nothing. “Management and human resources shift the blame to each other, without ever answering our questions,” employees report.

Believing that their dismissal was arbitrary and that no procedure had been followed, the workers decided to take to the streets to express their discontent and demand their rights.
