The name of the bridge over the Creuse and a lane of Blanc was 23e and last item on the agenda of the municipal council meeting Monday November 18, 2024, Salle des Augustins, under the chairmanship of Mayor Gilles Lherpinière.
Following repeated requests, among others by Yves Gaïtanaros, president of French Souvenir, to name the bridge “Arnaud Beltrame” and a rue Paul-Mirguet known as Colonel Surcouf, the mayor expressed and justified his disagreement with the assembly. “Arnaud Beltrame is entirely honorable but why here? In his hometown, where the tragic event happened, yes, it makes sense. And as for Paul Mirguet, he was certainly resistant, but he was also a deputy, who on July 18, 1960 voted for an amendment against homosexuality. he explains. The council approves the arguments presented and votes against these names unanimously for Paul Mirguet and by 23 against and two abstentions for Arnaud Beltrame. At the same time, the mayor announced that rue Abbé-Pierre would change its name. “I would like it to bear the name of a woman and that the municipal youth council be associated with this reflection,” specifies the councilor.

Public lighting. Another subject discussed was that of public lighting, the hours of which were reduced in November 2022, generating significant sources of savings. However, following numerous requests from residents and the gendarmerie for security reasons, the mayor proposed lighting the city's streets for longer. Marie-France Pruvost, opposition representative, regrets this proposal which is harmful to biodiversity. The new timetables are adopted (1 vote against, 3 abstentions).
Soon a White Mac Do? The Mac Donald France company asked the mayor to acquire 4,000 m of land2located Barrière du Trône, with a view to creating a “Mac Do concept” restaurant including 45 parking spaces with a floor area of approximately 400 m2 (adopted, 4 votes against and one abstention).
Reimbursement of expenses. Following a visit to Paris and the Senate for 21 members of the municipal council, adults and young people, on Wednesday October 16, 2024, whose train tickets, museum entries, and meals (€1,967) were paid for by Nathalie Corbeau, first deputy and Gilles Lherpinière, they are requesting reimbursement as well as a subscription to Canva paid for by Nathalie Corbeau. The opposition believes that the mayor and deputies have a monthly allowance and can pay (for the trip). An advance payment plan will be created.
Divers. Provision of land to the parents' association in Ville Haute for the creation of a garden, regulation of the use of ditches, budgetary modification decisions, job creation, requests for subsidies, management of the Ice Rink by the USF, water agency fees were debated and adopted.
