The work provided by the Observatory of Inequalities allows us to establish a map of the city of Nice, district by district, in particular according to the income of the richest 10%.

Where do the biggest fortunes in Nice reside? Thanks to the third report from the Observatory of Inequalities, published this June, we have a glimpse of the answer. A photograph which mainly takes into account the minimum emoluments of the richest 10%.

If the institute also studies disposable income, the median and the general standard of living, it is with the data mentioned above that the ranking is established. It allows us, as we did in this article of June 6 for the departments of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, to classify the districts of Nice.

Unsurprisingly, the east of Nice is particularly rich

If we start with the wealthiest places in the Maralpine capital, we must without too much surprise look rather to the East, between Gairaut (the richest 10% live there on 7,176 euros per month), Mont- Boron (6,738 euros) and Cimiez (6,063 euros) for the podium. Please note that these analyzed figures date back to 2021.

The rest of the top 10 is completed by Bischoffsheim (5,770 euros), the Musicians (5,362 euros), Carabacel (5,228 euros), Valrose (4,949 euros), Abbaye de Roseland (4,808 euros), Vieille-Ville (4,773 euros) and Brancolar-Régina (4,772 euros).

It should be added that Nice is the 37th wealthiest city in France, with a standard of living estimated at 3,464 euros for the richest citizens. She is therefore far from her leading sisters, which is not surprising. Indeed, if the Alpes-Maritimes is a rather wealthy territory (9th in France), it is also a particularly unequal area.

The rate of households below the poverty line in the department is 16.4% according to the latest statistics, which is well above the French average (14.9%). The Riviera coast is therefore a source of disparities, which we see in certain sectors of the Baie des Anges.

The Observatory thus ranks the Ariane district as the least fortunate, with two sectors in first and third place: Les Chênes (1,770 euros for the richest 10%) and Saramito (1,848 euros). Between the two is Les Moulins (1,812 euros). There again, no surprises.

In October 2023, the Abbé-Pierre Foundation warned about this in its annual survey. The entire Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis is singled out, but the organization is particularly concerned about the priority areas of Nice. What the Observatory of Inequalities confirms in its report.
