Nîmes: a crazy race ends face to face

On June 22, 2024, early in the afternoon, a patrol from the Nîmes motorized brigade noticed that two cars were stopped in the middle of the roads, shortly before the town of Marguerittes. The drivers appeared to be having a verbal altercation.

To secure the scene, the police activated their flashing lights and asked the drivers to pull over. One of the drivers then fled at high speed towards the town center of Marguerittes, narrowly missing hitting the soldiers.

Pursued from a distance, the driver increased the risks and violations of the Highway Code, endangering other road users. Finally, his crazy chase ended in a face-to-face encounter with a van. Fortunately, the driver of the van, the driver and his passenger were only slightly injured in the accident.

The investigation, entrusted to the gendarmes of the Marguerittes brigade, revealed that the suspect was driving without a driving license and under the influence of drugs. Placed in police custody and tried in immediate appearance, he was sentenced to three years in prison, including one year, and was imprisoned at the end of the hearing.
