Children's Week: Always more supporting, protecting and innovating

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child and the International Day of the Rights of the Child, the Department of Maine-et- is organizing the first edition of the Children's Weekfrom November 18 to 22, 2024.

Children's Week will be punctuated by highlights and conferences for children's professionals, such as childminders and the child protection service, but also for the general public with some workshops and an exhibition open to all.

An intense week which promises to be rich in exchanges, learning and new ideas for increased professional solidarity in the Maine-et-Loire region and at the national level.

The installation of the child protection youth council

Wednesday November 20 at 2:30 p.m.

The Department has offered all young people hosted in an establishment or a foster family the opportunity to become spokespersons for young people entrusted to Child Welfare. The goal? That they feel involved in child welfare policies and can engage with other young people with similar backgrounds for their future.

44 of them, aged 8 to 21, were appointed for a 2-year term. They will form the youth council and will meet for the first time on Wednesday November 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hôtel du Département. Meetings will then take place every six weeks between each school period. A first time of exchange which promises to be enriching and ambitious.

Like every year, Florence Dabin, President of the Department of Maine-et-Loire, would like to personally congratulate the young people entrusted to Child Welfare who obtained a diploma this year. In the presence of Philippe Chopin, Prefect of Maine-et-Loire, it will be an opportunity for young graduates to be highlighted for their success.

From Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 November, the Department will be present at the Career and Business Orientation Crossroads in Cholet. The opportunity for all interested people to come and learn about and discover childhood careers on the Department's stand, in the presence of the Human Resources team.
