Festival BD Colomiers
A look at what’s happening today,
on what is coming tomorrow!
2024 will mark the 41st edition of the Colomiers Comic Strip Festival with, since 1984, many developments and enrichments.
For more than 10 years, the festival has given visibility for young authors and accompanies them on the path to professionalization.
Choosing to bring together only independent publishersit allows
a public curious to discover works less often highlighted. This artistic line appeals to a large number of people, more than 18,500 visitors traveling to the festival every year.
Talent discovererthe BD Colomiers festival presents the First Time Pricewhich recognizes an author whose first book of comic literature was published during the year and is awarded 1,500 euros.
The festival is therefore part of a special event, with the primary desire to promote the excitement of comic book creation. This June 21, 2024, he was also awarded the Sofia du Literary Action Prizein the “commitments” category!

A commitment noted since this June 21, 2024, the BD Colomiers festival was awarded the Literary Action Prize in the commitments category by Sofia(1).
A festival that supports young authors
In order to highlight the next talents in comics, the festival supports young artists at
through its programming and its Tout Première Fois prize – endowed with €1,500 and awarded to a
first remarkable work as part of the festival. This also involves a
fair remuneration of artists for their interventions and signings throughout the festival. To that
is added to year-round support with a 3-month artist residency allowing
authors to fully invest themselves in writing their first comic strip while
inhabiting the Columérin territory.
Independent publishing at the heart of the festival
With a remarkable program and the All You Need is Lire commercial operation, the festival is
the challenge of bringing together only independent publishers and thus introducing the public to
works less often highlighted in the media or general bookstores. He puts
also highlights works published by such structures in his podcast La Peau de
l’Ours·e, by inviting himself into the workshop of artists in the process of creating their comic strip.
Ecology
Over the years, the ecological transition has become a central issue of the festival. Let this pass
by promoting soft mobility for the arrival of guests or the choice of proposals
of plant-based and local restorations, the Colomiers BD festival wants to control its impact as best as possible
environmental, societal and cultural. Particular attention is also paid to the
recovery of materials to give them a second life and the sustainability of structures and
supports constructed from one edition to another.
Image education and the development of creativity
Education in images and the medium of comics is one of the pillars of the BD festival with
the middle school and high school comic strip prizes, run for several years alongside the Rectorate of
the Toulouse academy. The festival also wants to give young people a taste for creation
generations by offering a youth competition and workshops, shows and meetings aimed at
to young audiences and school audiences during the festival.
An ethical and accessible festival
The Colomiers BD festival is above all a human adventure. This event wishes to be
