It was in the presence of several people and the granddaughter of Marcel Neau, that a plaque in the name of Marcel Neau was affixed, Saturday June 22, to the school group of Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg, delegated commune of Bellevigne -the castles.

During the ceremony, the mayor of Bellevigne-les-Châteaux, Armel Froger, paid tribute to the career of Marcel Neau.

Born in 1932, he joined the municipal council in 1959 for a period of 42 years. He became mayor on March 13, 1977, succeeding Marcel Tennedien.

Involved at cantonal and departmental levels

This is the time of construction of the school group in 1976, the sports complex in 1982, the new neighborhoods on rue de la Crilloire, the Clos de l’Hôpital, the Prieuré and the Moutier. We can also mention the road to Champigny, the supermarket and the hairdressing salon, still owned by the municipality. It is also supporting the development of the freeze-drying plant and especially the Saumur cellar, a major act in his professional life that he is advancing with his cousin Robert Neau. With his brother-in-law Louis Robineau, they support the France Champignon sector, which is already in difficulty. It is also the connection of Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg to the Chacé wastewater treatment plant, set up by the SPAB which succeeded Blanchaud. We must also not forget its implications at the cantonal and departmental levels.

The mayor also highlighted how his memories are still present in people’s minds, his involvement as mayor and how devoted he was to his constituents.

Armel Froger then took up a few words written by Dominique Sibileau, mayor at the time, during his funeral in April 2013: He was proud of his community and dreamed of only one thing: that everyone would feel at home there. I believe he was proud of his position for which he had great respect and whose duties he knew perfectly. Having worked with him during my first term with Louis Robineau, I was able to discover an upright, dedicated man who was respectful of others.
