It’s a real machine with a social vocation. The Cerizay socio-cultural center – whose general assembly was held on Saturday May 25 – this year brought together no less than 144 volunteers around 10 employees and 27 seasonal workers involved in numerous unifying activities.

Nine municipalities of intervention

In total, 1,591 members benefit from its services. “This number is not representative of the residents who use all the spaces run by the CSC”, explain those responsible. Indeed, membership is not compulsory for residents who participate in cultural events or family and senior activities. The Cerizéen CSC operates in nine municipalities in total: Combrand, Le Pin, Montravers, Cerizay, Brétignolles, Cirières, Courlay, la Forêt-sur-Sèvre, and Saint-André-sur-Sèvre.

For 2024, the objectives are a continuation of all the actions already undertaken, particularly within the framework of the 2022-2025 social project. We will note the creation of a new garden workshop near the Résidence du Bocage as a continuation of the actions carried out in partnership with Pass’Haj. The project will consist of relying on learning about the collective nourishing garden to learn the basic skills to reproduce at home.

“There are no more intergenerational transmissions”

“We hypothesize that there are no more intergenerational transmissions, that the consumer society has demobilized residents of the know-how to limit situations of food insecurity in particular. We rely on professional coordination of lasting action to achieve our objectives”indicate CSC officials.

Another project, continuing the work started by Pass’Haj in the creation of a well-being and nature space near the Résidence du Bocage. The CSC is also working on its 2026-2029 social project, a sort of roadmap that guides the action of the social center.

The first discussions will be carried out in September 2024 for submission of the project to the Caf in June 2025. The annual budget of the CSC du Cerizéen balances around €665,489, including €331,667 financed by grants.
