The new Saint-Bardoux school costing more than two million euros should be delivered for the start of the school year next September.

The commune of Saint-Bardoux has launched work on the construction of the new school in the center of the village. With a forecast budget estimated at more than two million eurosthe inauguration should take place at the start of the next school year.

A campaign promise

Étienne Larat, the first magistrate of the commune of Saint-Bardoux since March 2020 had made this promise to build a new school worthy of the name in order to accommodate the growing number of children in this locality perched on the heights of l'Herbasse. During the last meeting of the municipal council, the mayor indicated the schedule chosen for carrying out the work specifying the first phase started since the end of October: the demolition of the wall, the stairs and the old entrance to the local school thanks to the help of the Billon company.

For the start of the 2025 school year

The date confirmed by the municipality is end of June 2025 with the delivery of new classrooms also consisting of a workshop and modern toilets. The little Bardousians will discover their new premises in September 2025. The second phase will see the expansion of the motor skills room with a secure entrance airlock. A courtyard will be built near the main building which will be completely renovated. On the ground floor, a daycare and a school library will be set up. The floor will be reserved for the location ofa future class. The courtyard will be preserved after a complete renovation. It will be grassed and part of it will contain wood shavings. The third phase of this work will be the construction of the school restaurant (a kitchen and a room benefiting from state-of-the-art and modern furniture) capable of accommodating around thirty children attending school on site.
