angry farmers are mobilizing this Monday, November 18

Just as in Tarn-et-Garonne (and everywhere in ), in Haute-Garonne, the Young Farmers (JA) and the Departmental Federation of Farmers' Unions (FDSEA) come together this Monday, November 18, 2024 from 7 p.m. in several cantons of the department.

The reason for this new national mobilization ? These professionals from the agricultural world are mobilizing to protest against the proposed free trade agreement with the Mercosur countries (the abbreviation of the Southern Common Market made up of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and more recently Bolivia. And since its creation, other states have been associate members: Chile, Colombia, Ecuador , Guyana, Peru and Suriname).

“Gentle” actions

And farmers do not intend to block the roads and cause trouble on the main roads of Haute-Garonne as was the case a year ago, they count, on the other hand, to be heard through this manifestation.

On the FDSEA 31 Facebook page, it is indicated:

The countryside is burning. Get involved on Monday 11/18 from 7 p.m. in each of your cantons to raise the voice of agriculture loud and clear! Fires of anger, covering of panels, installation of banners…”, indicates the federation.

For his part, Pierrick Horel, president of Young Farmersconfirmed this Monday morning on RMC:

85 demonstration points are getting underway, we don't want a concrete blockage as we saw last year.”
