The Rhine reveals its secrets, its tumultuous history, through this exhibition, which traces the history of the ancient Au plain. The Rhine, respected for the prosperity and diversity it has generated (fauna, flora and human activities), has left us the Little Alsatian Camargue as a legacy. Through the screening of a film as part of the exhibition dedicated to it, you will be able to travel through the different seasons.

Petite Camargue Alsacienne Nature Reserve 1 rue de la Pisciculture, 68300 Saint-Louis Saint-Louis 68300 Haut-Rhin Grand Est 03 89 89 78 59 http://www.petitecamarguealsacienne.com The Petite Camargue Alsacienne National Nature Reserve is located to the south of the Alsace plain.
It became the first protected nature reserve in Alsace in 1982 and occupies an area of 906 hectares (municipalities of Bartenheim, Kembs, Rosenau, Saint-Louis, Village-Neuf in Sundgau) which protects a mosaic of environments in the old bed major of the Rhine.

The Petite Camargue Alsacienne manages to preserve its old Napoleon III style buildings and today works for the return of salmon to the Rhine.

Even today, two fish farmers work for the return of salmon to the Rhine and every year, thousands of juveniles are reared in the river and its tributaries.
The Pisciculture Impériale de Huningue has regained its original vocation: the production of Atlantic salmon fry for the restocking of the Rhine and its tributaries.

In the Little Alsatian Camargue, heritage is combined in the plural. They are historic, with regard to the restored lock keeper’s house on the banks of the Huningue canal, presenting permanent exhibitions “Memory of the Rhine” and “Memory of Salmon”, and natural for the 906 hectares of nature, classified as a Natural Reserve in 2006 in the ancient floodplain of the Rhine.
