In April, Franck Haise had declared that the Burkinabé goalkeeper was not arriving in Lens to take first place in the hierarchy, but to strengthen the goalkeeping pole. We have since learned that Brice Samba wanted to leave the Blood and Gold.
To announce the coming ofHervé Koffi coming from Charleroi, Pierre Dréossi made rave comments which do not correspond to the profile of a No. 2 goalkeeper, who would remain on the bench all season, as was the case last season for Jean Louis Leca.
“Hervé perfectly embodies the qualities required of a modern goalkeeper” declared the new general director of Lens, “He particularly stands out for his kicking game, his reflexes and his explosiveness.”
Asked by 226foot after signing, Hervé Koffi says he hopes to do better at RC Lens than at Charleroi. “I am happy to be from Lens and hope to do better than in Charleroi.” declared the 27-year-old goalkeeper, who had been in Lille between 2017 and 2021, before spending three seasons in Charleroi. “The season for Charleroi has not been easy and, having this opportunity to sign for a big club in France like Lens, I think it is satisfying. I pray to God now that everything can go well here and that I can do better than in Charleroi.”
The comments of both parties suggest thatHervé Koffi does not come to Lens to make up the numbers, but to put on the tunic of the titular goalkeeper.
