We know the fragile situation. After a particularly eventful weekend on November 1 and 2, which saw two C5 line buses worth 550,000 euros each go up in smoke in a few minutes, the Sytral had stopped service from the Ville Nouvelle to Rillieux -the Pope for ten days.
Political battle
What followed was a political battle between mayor Alexandre Vincendet (Horizons) who did not hesitate to file a complaint to counter the decision of the president of Sytral Mobilités. The mayor speaking of “double punishment” for the inhabitants of Rillieux when Bruno Bernard (EELV) had to face the bus drivers' union and provide them with security guarantees in order to avoid a right of withdrawal.
Traffic finally resumed on Tuesday, November 12 in the New Town, with a reinforcement of police forces on the ground and the presence of CRS. A presence which will not have been sufficient to deter the troublemakers.
Projectile throws
The first skirmishes took place on the evening of Wednesday, November 13 with the stone-throwing of a bus. Hostilities, which began again on the evening of Friday November 15 when: “Projectiles were thrown and windows were broken,” announced the TCL.
Sytral has once again made the decision to no longer serve the new town this weekend of November 16 and 17 from 7 p.m.
After this timetable, lines C5 and C2 stop again at the Charles de Gaulle roundabout, and the terminus of line 33 operates in the village at the “Fleury Salignat” stop.
The restoration of traffic is now dependent on a decision from Sytral which will take place this Monday, November 18.
