This initiative marks a strong commitment by the company to the environment and the preservation of local forests, after the damage caused by bark beetles. To lay their eggs, these small insects dig galleries under the bark and cause the death of the tree.

A local and collaborative project

La Fruitière de Gestion Forestière du Haut-Jura manages these plots and already had the objective of a reforestation project. However, she was seeking to raise the necessary funds to see it through. It is therefore together that La Fruitière and Les Petits Culottés brought this joint project to fruition.

“Rather than going to replant trees far from home, we naturally preferred to do it locally. Where there are needs and where we can have a very concrete impact, supported by serious organizations” explains Matthieu Batteur, co-founder of Petits Culottés.

Thanks to local connections, the brand was put in contact with the Chamber of Agriculture of Jura and finally with the Fruitière de Gestion Forestière, thus facilitating the realization of this reforestation project.

Action to bring affected forests back to life

On one hectare divided into three lots of plots belonging to several local owners, reforestation will be undertaken to replace spruce plantations, highly exposed to bark beetle attacks, with local species better able to cope with climate change.

This operation aims not only to restore the ecological balance, but also to support the local economy by promoting deforested land.

A collective mobilization

The official launch of this reforestation operation will take place on Tuesday November 12, 2024, in the presence of several local and national actors committed to preserving the environment.

Among them, Les Petits Culottés represented by their founders, La Fruitière with its manager Nicolas Dezecache, the team from the IDARAT company, specialized in reforestation and finally, the owners of the plots concerned.
