A few weeks before the start of the Paris 2024 Games, the extension of line 14 has come to an end. Since June 24, 2024, which will be a milestone in the history of Ile-de-France transport, these are 8 new stations and 15 kilometers of new tracks which are added to the route of the latest addition to the metro network.

From now on, Orly airport is less than 25 minutes from the center of Paris, in Châtelet (4th). From today, this new route allows line 14 to go from 650 000 daily travelers to nearly 800 000thus becoming one of the major parts of the legacy of the Games, and the most main automatic line of the Ile-de-France transport network.

New connections and shortened travel times

Thanks to the extension which made it possible to double its initial route, going from 12 to 27 kilometers, the travel times of many users will be considerably shortened. Indeed, it now takes only 40 minutes to go from Saint-Denis to Orly airport. At the same time, this extension will reduce traffic on line 13 towards Saint-Ouen (93) and Saint-Denis (93), or even line 7 and the southern branch of the RER B.

This “new” line 14 also constitutes a link between the historic metro network and the 4 future automatic lines of the Ile-de-France metro (15, 16, 17, 18) et offers connections with:

  • The 5 RER lines (A, B, C, D, E),
  • 3 lignes de tramway (T 7, 3a, 3b),
  • 10 metro lines (1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13),
  • 4 train lines (H, J, L, R).
