Valence FC achieved a feat this Saturday at the Pompidou stadium for the 7th round of the Coupe de France. Elies Khodja's players beat Marignane Gignac who plays N2, 4 divisions above the Drôme, with a score of 1 goal to 0.
Valence FC opened the scoring in the 6th minute. On a free kick from captain Sophiane Guerbas on the right of the opposing cages, Djeto Fabre was quickest in the area to deceive the Marignane goalkeeper. The Drôme club leads to everyone's surprise 1 goal to 0. In the 16th minute, Valence FC is on the verge of doubling the score, Cédric Khelif's recovery in the opposing area is pushed back by the post. It's half-time at the Pompidou stadium and Valence FC is still ahead. Elies Khodja's players held their own against their opponents who play in N2. The second half has started and Valence FC is still holding on despite the domination of Marignane. The Valentinois are even close to adding a second goal through Ridwan Rezazga who sees his shot in the area pass just above the opposing cages. The Drôme hold on and sign a major feat to reach the 8th round.
