At the end of 2023, members of the Brest student association OBI 1 initiated the ObiTech-Share project to respond to growing concerns related to digital insecurity. This project aims to provide refurbished computers to UBO students, beneficiaries of the Agoaré solidarity grocery store or followed by a Crous social worker. At the price of 10 euros.

However, their efforts face a major challenge, as Ewenn Minne, president and Yoon Hermite, vice president attest: “We receive fewer donations than we have requests. For around thirty PCs available, more than a hundred students call on our help. »

Ten lucky people during the distribution

The association collected computers from individuals and businesses. After a repackaging phase, distribution was recently able to take place for ten lucky people, applying the “first come, first served” operating mode. The association continues its search for equipment to meet the greatest number of students.

OBI 1 is engaged in other actions such as the organization of the Obilan video game tournament, the Info Night and board game evenings to combat isolation. The association also offers educational support to computer science degree students by offering courses on Linux.
