Fourteen individuals in an irregular situation escape from the Vincennes administrative detention center

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, 14 people managed to escape from the administrative detention center (CRA) of Vincennes, located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. Only one of them was found and taken into custody.

This incident highlights the precarious conditions of detention within this center and raises questions about the security of the premises.

A well-prepared escape

According to the first elements of the investigation reported by -17, the escapees cut part of the fence of CRA 2B, taking advantage of the night to go unnoticed. Among the fugitives, three had just been released from prison and were awaiting deportation to their country of origin.

An open investigation and unanswered questions

An investigation was opened by the 12th arrondissement police station for “evading administrative detention of a foreigner during a meeting”. The center’s video surveillance images are currently being carefully used in order to trace the exact course of events and identify the individuals still on the run.

Recurring escapes that raise concerns

This escape is not an isolated event. In fact, last December, 11 people had already escaped from the same CRA by creating a hole in a grate. A month earlier, 8 other detainees had also managed to escape. These recurring escapes raise concerns about the security of the center and the conditions of detention of those detained.
