A decree and an order establish the “temporary increase, as part of the preparation and holding of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, of the regulatory maximum amounts of certain bonuses and allowances” intended for civil servants. This must “allow compensation, on an exceptional basis, for agents directly mobilized in the preparation and holding of the Olympic Games or exposed to a significant increase in activity directly generated by changes in service organization linked to the Games”, specify these texts.

From €500 to €1,500

In March, the government announced that bonuses of €500 (“temporary increase in activity” and “one-off constraint on leave”), €1,000 (“temporary increase in activity” and “sustained constraint”) and 1 €500 (“particularly high mobilization, over time” and “strong limitation of days off”) would be provided depending on the impact of the Games on the activity of the service and the taking of leave.

This is in addition to several other support measures planned during the Olympic (July 26-August 11) and Paralympic (August 28-September 8) Games, such as, for example, more teleworking.

100,000 public agents directly mobilized

“Nearly 100,000 public employees will be directly mobilized for the Olympics,” Stanislas Guerini, Minister of the Civil Service, indicated at the end of April.

The texts concern a long list of civil servants, particularly in the state civil service, for whom the “JO bonus” is based on the existing system of bonuses and allowances, the maximum amounts of which are increased for 2024.

For law enforcement, the “JO bonus”, announced in January and increased to €1,900 for police officers and gendarmes working in Île-de-France, was confirmed in a letter co-signed by Gabriel Attal and Gérald Darmanin.
