In Isère, the Pôle Agroalimentaire – an association created by the Departmental Council and the Chamber of Agriculture in 2018 – works on a daily basis to promote Isère agriculture by promoting products resulting from the processing of agricultural foodstuffs.

Develop a local and consolidated price offer
To achieve these objectives, the “IS HERE” brand was created in 2018. A brand that guarantees consumers local, ethical and responsible production: “All the brand’s products are organic, HVE and produced in the department. It concerns a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, grown in a territory with a very varied topography. We are also fortunate to have significant consumption areas, which encourages us to want to pay attention to these supplies. This is why we need to create a circuit that lies between direct sales and long supply chains. Our objective is to develop this offer, which may, for example, be of interest to the catering service of educational establishments. Because within a few years, colleges will have to offer meals from 100% local and organic production. This is a significant demand, which requires sufficient production and a structured offer,” reports Aurélien Clavel, President of the Agri-Food Division.

Providing opportunities for farmers
To develop this local sector, the Agri-Food Center guides farmers on market needs while providing them with outlets: “Our objective is to offer outlets to the producer by putting in place collection and processing tools. For example, we are currently working a lot to develop field vegetables in the department. There are a lot of market gardeners, but to set up a local and consolidated price chain, it is more complicated. We are therefore going to meet farmers who have productions such as nuts or cereal crops which require large areas and offer them the opportunity to diversify into field vegetables while ensuring them an outlet”

The development of an intermediate offer which requires the mobilization of the entire sector
An ambitious objective for which the entire sector is mobilizing: “All links in the chain are involved: farmers, artisans, communities, municipal communities, the departmental council and consular chambers. They respect the price set by the producer, who of course determines a price in line with the state of the market. The distributors who are part of the association can also guide producers on market needs by providing them with an outlet. Now, we must work to make ourselves known in order to best advise farmers who want to get started in advance.”
