“What am I going to vote for?” : in Amiens, between resignation and desire for a roadblock against the National Rally

Will voters mobilize in favor of one program or to block another?

For decades, the left and the right activated the “republican front against the extreme right”.

Is this still a concept that speaks to the French? TF1 went to Amiens, where voters feel trapped by the choices they have left.

The mobilization against the National Rally is displayed in the streets of Amiens (Somme), as we see in the TF1 report at the top of this article. Marine Le Pen’s party has never won either of the city’s two constituencies. But for the first time, he came first in the last Europeans. When activists of the New Popular Front campaign, an argument very quickly arises in their conversation, that of “block the RN”.

This argument is well received in the city, but even for voters worried about the RN’s breakthrough, the dam is no longer necessarily self-evident. The components of the left-wing coalition pose a problem for several voters met by our team. And when it is not the NFP, it is the presidential camp which acts as a foil. The Republican Front has never seemed so fractured. There are voters who could vote blank depending on the duel in the second round, but there are also all those who will not even go to the polls.

In the northern Amiens districts, one in three voters traveled during the last European elections. They are reluctant to vote despite the different methods of raising awareness. “It will be done”, estimates a lady, herself nevertheless hostile to the RN. We also see that the National Rally no longer worries as before. Is there a form of resignation or weariness among the residents of the neighborhood faced with this impression of always voting against. “We are always asked to put up a barrier”estimates a man at the microphone of TF1, “but the problem is ‘where is the hope, what am I going to vote for’In fact ?”.
