A fourth just for fun. THE young swimmer Léon Marchand enters a little more into the legend of swimming and won a fourth individual qualification for the Paris 2024 Games.

The 22-year-old from Toulouse won his fourth French champion title in Chartres, in the 200 meter medley, this Friday June 21.

A feat after his crazy week and its three other titlesincluding the 400 meter medley, and the double accomplished in the same day, the 200 meter butterfly and the 200 meter breaststroke – a challenge he is also aiming for at the Olympic Games.

The reigning world champion’s triple says he is rather satisfied when he leaves the pool this Friday, June 21: “I am especially relieved with the qualifying time. In the 200 butterfly, the 1’55”, we still had to do them.“The only downside is his 400 m 4Not exactly what I was hoping for. I had doubts once I saw my 400 m 4. My state of form was not really what I hoped for“.

Rest before the Olympics

The trainer of the TOEC dolphins, Nicolas Castel, agrees and prescribes repos NOW. “I think he needs to recover again because I know he worked very, very well this winter, also during training. He’s had a lot of traveling the last few days and I think he’s getting tired, but he’s done really well..”

The coach is not worried about this clock a little less efficient. “For the times today, that doesn’t mean much considering his state of fatigue, there has been a lot of traveling in recent days. And then he trained very, very well.

The young swimming prodigy keeps his goal in mind for the Olympics, complete a double as he did in Chartres for the first time. “In fact, when I get to 200 pap, I think of 200 pap. As soon as I touch the walls I already think of the 200 breaststroke. So it’s not easy mentally. There are quite a few things and it excites me so much to make two finals at the Olympic Games in a row, that would be great.

Three other Toulouse residents at the Olympics

From TOEC dolphins, Antoine Viquerat managed to qualify for the 4×100 meters as a team and the 100 m breaststroke as an individual. Assia Touati and Guillaume Guth missed out on their respective individual qualifications but will carry the tricolor in the 4x200m and 4x100m medley as a team.

Toulouse residents to follow closely, from July 27.
