THE first flakes of snow will they fall in the North in the second half of November 2024 ? It's a possibility which is becoming clearer according to the forecastersnotably at Météo .

Will it snow in the North in November 2024?

One thing is certain, the weather will be disrupted with rain from this Sunday, November 17. A gale is also expected on Tuesday and temperatures will drop. Snow side, a few flakes could fall at the end of the week, particularly on theAvesnois.

“France will be located on the edge of the cold air, it is possible that snow will appear very temporarily on the plain to the north of these depressions which will circulate over the northern half,” explains meteorologist Guillaume Séchet, founder of Météo-Villes.

The Weather Channel also puts forward this scenario: “the start of next week will be marked by the arrival of low pressure in the country, favoring a high risk of bad weather, in particular strong gales and sustained precipitation. There air mass will gradually coollowering the rain-snow limit across all mountain ranges. From Wednesday, snowfall could be observed as far as the plains, particularly in the northeast and center-east. There snow will not necessarily stick to the ground in the plainbut could temporarily cover the ground from the first heights.”

Still many uncertainties however

However, many uncertainties remain regarding the precise trajectory and location of the depressions which will cross France. “Depending on the dominant flow, the forecasts may vary : a south-southwest flow before the depressions would mainly bring rain, while a north-northwest flow behind could favor snowfall,” notes La Chaîne Météo.

Guillaume Séchet elaborates: “the scenarios are still very fluctuating and it is impossible to know more at the moment. In any case, next week will be much more hectic than the twenty days of calm weather that we have just experienced,” he explains.

And Christopher Grolewski, head of the Météo – Pas-de- site, explains: “The flow will generally be oriented towards the North-West sector, bringing cool or even cold temperatures for the season. It is not excluded some mixed rain or snow, particularly from the first heights (Avesnois). The deadline is still very far away and requires confirmation.”

So to be continued. But still prepare scarves and hats!
