Lred light, it's not really a problemassures Maria-Serena, a driver who travels every day between Calvi and L'Île-Rousse. We lose two or three minutes each time, but we make up time elsewhere. In summer it takes 45 minutes. There, even with the landslide, I expect 30 minutes maximum, because the traffic is much less dense.''

Exactly six weeks after the rock slide above the San Damianu marina, between Algajola and Lumio, work continues.

As a reminder, since October 9, traffic has been open on one lane. It will be like this for several more weeks.

The first phase of work was completed at the beginning of November. Entrusted to the Corsica Travaux company, it consisted of securing the cliff, to avoid any further collapse. The most unstable blocks were purged, notably during an operation carried out on the morning of October 23, which caused a new closure of the road. Metal nets, as well as tie rods, were installed to consolidate the embankment upstream. Once the danger has passed, it's time for rock removal work.

A coating to be redone over 30 to 40 meters

For several days, the backhoe loaders of the Socotra BTP and CRTP companies have been working, equipped with their rock breakers, to overcome compact granite blocks, sometimes weighing more than 50 tonnes. A job that should last several more days, as the stone of this old quarry is tough. The evacuated rubble will be crushed to make gravel or sand. Some blocks will be reused to make riprap.

Once all the rubble has been evacuated, a third phase will consist of resurfacing. The latter was undoubtedly not spared by the landslide. According to initial estimates, around forty meters would need to be redone. The return to a normal situation should occur in the first half of December.
