David Hébert, again and again

As if he needed it, Hébert once again benefited from a good starting position, he who started first. And at the finish, after leading the 40-lap event from start to finish, he got the better of Alex Therrien, who took a second second place in a row, and François Bernier. Michaël Parent, with his best result of the season in Granby, and Mathieu Desjardins completed the top 5.

“It’s going well, but there are still a lot of races ahead of us,” the Saint-Damase driver began by saying, who clearly didn’t feel like giving a triumphalist speech. The car was still impeccable and the starting position again favored me. But the championship is not in the bag, I am convinced…”

Domination like that of Hébert makes people talk in the wells… and on social networks. Promoter Dominic Lussier also feels the pressure mounting.

Speaking of domination, Alex Lajoie isn’t doing too badly either as a sportsman, he who also got his hands on a fourth victory in five finals at the Autodrome this season. During a 40-lap event counting for the American Racer Quebec series, he beat Antoine Parent and Alexandre Salvas.

Visiting Granby again, Alex Labbé really seems to be taking a liking to clay. He finished 10th Friday evening.

“The track was very sticky and we had a car for that tonight,” admitted Lajoie. All the same, it wasn’t easy, I was in heavy traffic for a good part of the race. It’s not because we win that it’s easy…”

The uncertain weather certainly deprived the people of the Autodrome of an appreciable number of fans in the stands, but there was still a good crowd. (Stéphane Champagne/La Voix de l’Est)

Mathieu Voghell, from Saint-Alphonse, was crowned Mr. Compact Sport after a 25-lap final. It was his second success of the season.

Keven Boucher Carrier finally triumphed in lightning sprint, the guest class of the evening. It was rolling and it was rolling fast and in seven minutes, the 20-lap final was completed!

The Quebec Bowl Bowl continues Saturday evening with a 60-lap final in the modified category, with a tidy sum of $6,000 going to the winner.
