Archives completely destroyed by the flames and a building of which only the walls now remain. This is the observation made this Thursday, November 14, by Claude Steiner when he saw the house hosting the offices of Multiservices du Pays de Langres being devastated by a fire.
Shock this morning for the residents of Chemin des Conets in Lecey when around 8:30 a.m. they noticed that a fire had broken out in the building which until then housed the offices of Multiservices du Pays de Langres, an association which restores appliances household appliances. Quickly, the disaster completely engulfed the house where a lot of things were stored, starting with many of the association's administrative documents but also the archives of its owner, Claude Steiner.
The latter, alerted to the fire by the mayor of the town, could only see the damage and was shocked to see the firefighters working to extinguish the fire. The firefighters, under the command of Captain Benoît Kipper, worked on several fronts to try to control the fire which fortunately could not spread to neighboring homes. In fact, the building was not adjoining any other and the only point of concern was that flames would not fall in the direction of an old oil tank located at the rear of the land where the old home was located.
Working both from the ground and from the large ladder with several hoses, the firefighters succeeded in controlling the flames by mid-morning but their task was not yet completed since surveillance was put in place. throughout the day to ensure that the fire dies on its own and that no restart occurs. The presence of many things in the rooms of the house always makes a recovery possible, the hot spots being numerous.
Completely destroyed, whether in terms of the roof or the belongings stored inside, the house also saw its two gables being greatly weakened by the heat of the fireplace. As a safety measure, the part of the street located at building level has been neutralized in order to avoid any risk. Present on the scene throughout the intervention, Claude Steiner could only take the blame when he saw this building go up in smoke, which accompanied the development of the Multiservices du Pays de Langres but also several other projects that he carried out in the region. .
For the association manager, the time will now begin to report the loss of archives and memories that this man “very committed to the general interest” had collected over the years, particularly in relation to the Green Brigades of Lecey which have since become Défis.
