Le Grand-Mottois is a candidate for the legislative elections in the 9th constituency of Hérault, facing Patrick Vignal, outgoing deputy, and seven other candidates.

You are elected in opposition in La Grande-Motte, what pushes you to run for the legislative elections?

I am running because I absolutely do not want to see people from the New Popular Front come to power and because I see that Mr. Vignal, three mandates later, has produced nothing… He does not answer citizens’ questions about concerns such as immigration or pensions.

Are these your priority subjects?

There are several, such as the restoration of order, the return of respect for the Republic, the re-motivation of children at school… And then in a constituency like ours, there is an urgent need to reindustrialize, as well as to respond to the demands of farmers and wine growers, who are the forgotten ones of Macron’s five-year term. I am also in favor of an increase in pensions, which should be indexed to the cost of living. I would also like to see the half share restored for widows and widowers. And of course an increase in wages, while lowering employer contributions.

Isn’t that contradictory?

I am in favor of levying 0.5% of employer contributions to increase salaries, but also of reducing them by 25 to 30% to boost employment. Sarkozy’s “work more to earn more” has not worked so much: many companies do not need to resort to overtime, other levers must be found.

You want to reindustrialize the constituency but is that the role of the MP?

An MP can act to encourage the establishment of businesses of course! Here we applaud when a box sets up and we look away when another leaves. We live on our achievements.

If you are not in the second round, who will you call to vote for?

Certainly not for the Popular Front, nor for Mr. Vignal who could have done things and let it slip. I am on the right, I was a member of the UDF, then the Modem and the UDI, and now the LR, and I will stay in my camp.

Which right? The one allied to the RN?

I’m not so convinced by a paratrooper who came to play in the sandbox in our constituency and knows nothing else! I will see in due time.
