Biarritz Nouvelles Vagues Film Festival: room for youth!

Among recent film events in France, the Biarritz Nouvelles Vagues Nouvelles Vagues festival deserves special mention. Its second edition is in full swing until Sunday June 23. This festival is unique in its kind, because it gives the spotlight to films from around the world that evoke youth, its stories, its dreams and its dynamics.

Eight films, French and international, are part of the official selection this year (all of these films are a premiere in France). They will be evaluated by a jury of eight people, all under the age of 35.

In addition to the main competition, the Nouvelles Vagues festival also offers the possibility of viewing more than thirty films. These films are chosen by six guests of honor, who each selected a film that, in their opinion, best represents youth. Among these guests of honor are Alice Diop, Alain Chabat, James Franco and Matt Dillon.

The Nouvelles Vagues festival also offers unique meeting times and previews, in the presence of directors and actors. This year, the public will have the opportunity to discover in preview Le Roman de Jim made by the Larrieu brothers, Rough diamond by Agathe Riedinger, Le Comte de Monte Cristo by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière, and Tatami by Zar Amir (Interpretation Prize at Cannes in 2022) and Guy Nattiv.

The Biarritz Nouvelles Vagues film festival will be in full swing until Sunday June 23, 2024 in Biarritz, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. For more information on programming, screening locations and ticket purchases, visit the festival’s official website.
