It took months and months of battle to obtain this simple white line! A few weeks ago the road markings were drawn between the two lanes of the Nationale 191 near the Transdev bus depot, in the southern tip of . “My colleagues supported me,” underlines Jean-Louis Florès, mayor of the small village of Boinville-le-Gaillard. The depot is located in his commune.

Very busy and considered dangerous

“We are afraid on this road. We don't feel safe. Some double but the visibility is not good. »

Jean-Louis Florès, mayor of Boinville-le-Gaillard

The councilor has already had to announce death. Security is what pushed him to consult with the mayors of Orsonville, Ablis, Allainville and Paray-Douaville to request the establishment of the white line. It is also the security which brings the gendarmerie to be particularly vigilant, particularly during periods of departure and return from vacation. But the known locations of the controls provide little incentive for road users to limit their speed.

The N191 is a central artery in the south of Yvelines. It connects the A10 and the A11. And the road has the particularity of not having emergency lane. The number of heavy goods vehicles is significant due to the development of business areas. The passage of heavy goods vehicles should also increase with the arrival of the Lidl logistics platform in the Ablis business area.

A new bus center

Besides the heavy goods vehiclesthese are construction trucks which are about to appear on the N191, at the Transdev depot. The bus center, formerly the Abattoirs de l'Ouest, will be demolished to be rebuilt. Permits have been submitted to Boinville town hall. The work will be carried out on an occupied site.

The new bus center project includes a deceleration lane to enter the depot and an insertion lane to exit it. But while waiting for the demolition and then delivery of the new center, buses can no longer exit at right angles on the N191. “When they come from Ablis, they turn at Petit Orme to enter the bus depot,” underlines Jean-Louis Florès. The mayor adds: “It’s a great project. It will fit in well with the landscape.”

For its part, the town hall has condemned the rural road which runs alongside the depot. “We have put a prohibited direction at both ends of the road,” assures the mayor. Of the forbidden meanings and barriers that are not always respected. “Gendarmerie checks are planned,” he slips.

And Jean-Louis Florès points out: “There were deaths on the N191”, and also a lot of crumpled sheet metal.

Soon a roundabout?

The dangerousness of intersectionsparticularly those between the N191 and the D118 (linking Boinville to Orsonville) gives rise to the need for a rond-point. A project that should have seen the light of day almost 20 years ago. In 2005, there was talk of doubling the lanes and creating roundabouts in several municipalities along the N191. A consultation was held. The project never saw the light of day.

A roundabout would make traffic flow more smoothly and reduce speed at the intersection between the N191 and the D118 between Boinville-le-Gaillard and Orsonville (Yvelines), in particular. ©P.Cohen

If funding was available at that time, the State and Department budgets no longer allow it today. However, Territoires could take on at least part of the construction of a roundabout.

“A meeting was organized at the end of September by the sub-prefect with all the stakeholders for the security of all the roads. We talked about the N191. »

Thomas Gourlan, president of Rambouillet Territoires

For the mayor of Orsonville, this roundabout is necessary. “It would limit speed, particularly during periods of heavy traffic. In this location, we have the land rights to make it happen. On the national roads, it is also necessary to provide passage for special convoys,” estimates Anne Cabrit.

“I made a commitment to the municipalities so that Rambouillet Territoires finances all or part of the roundabout. There is a subject of securing the Agglo which has the skills mobility, transport, economic development and regional planning. Securing the N191 becomes an intercommunal subject. »

One million euros

For all stakeholders, the creation of the roundabout is a priority subject. “It takes around a million euros,” says Thomas Gourlan. The president of the Agglo intends to see the project come to fruition quickly.

“I would like the file to be completed in the first half of 2025,” he assures. The roundabout will not be completed in the first half of 2025, but project management issues and project outlines should be defined. “This is the most urgent subject. But we also need to secure the other accesses to the N191,” insists Thomas Gourlan.

The project imagined between 2005 and 2008 seems to partially return to the forefront. However, the doubling of lanes initially planned remains on the cards.
