A new gathering took place this Thursday evening at Place de la Bastille in Paris to denounce the rape and violence suffered by a 12-year-old girl, assaulted because she was Jewish. More generally, participants denounce sexist and sexual violence, as well as anti-Semitic acts, which are on the rise in France.

48 hours after the indictment of the attackers of the 12-year-old girl, raped and attacked in Courbevoie, in Hauts-de-Seine, because she was Jewish, a new gathering took place this Thursday evening at Place de la Bastille in Paris . The participants obviously want to denounce this horrible act and, more generally, sexist and sexual violence, as well as anti-Semitic acts, which have been on the rise in France since the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel on October 7.

Speaking engagements

The call was launched by several anti-racist associations and collectives, including SOS Racisme, the Human Rights League and Dare Feminism. Activists joined by the Nous Vivrons collective which organized the Town Hall rally on Wednesday and which can be recognized by its blue, white and red signs on which is written “+1,000% anti-Semitic acts”.

For the participants present at this gathering, anti-Semitism is everyone’s concern and not just the Jewish community. A few hundred people are present, anonymous people, association leaders and elected officials. At the start of the evening, activists continued to flock to Place de la Bastille and various speeches were underway.
