Thanks to the collaboration of the Vaud cantonal police, a 26-year-old French motorist was arrested on Wednesday in Yvonand, around 5:40 p.m. He is suspected of having committed a serious road accident a few kilometers away, in Châbles. (FR), in the Crottes de Cheyres, around 4 p.m. After hitting a 66-year-old scooter rider, the driver fled at the wheel of his vehicle equipped with French plates. “Seriously injured, the scooter rider was airlifted to a hospital,” announced the Friborg cantonal police.

From the first elements of the investigation, it appears that the suspect had his driving license revoked since 2022 and that he was probably driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. “He was placed under provisional arrest and his vehicle sequestered for the purposes of the procedure,” mentions the press release.
