The project had been brewing for a long time, after overcame some obstacles due to a geopolitical and economic context which has slowed down progress, Moussur stadium building was inaugurated, with great fanfare, last Saturday November 9, at Castelnau-Montratier in the Lot.
With a surface area of approximately 320 m², which will be completed by a 90 m² terrace (confirmed by the architect in charge of the project, Luis Gonzalez), this brand new building was designed to meet the need for suitable premises for sporting events and to offer greater convenience during training.
It includes a large reception room, a kitchen, a bar area, changing rooms, showers, and several openings to the outside.
Why this building
While the children trained hard following the instructions of the educators, on the grounds surrounding the new building, the elected officials gathered around the mayor to proceed with the inauguration.
The mayor, Dominique Marin affirmed that the construction of this stadium was necessary for several reasons: “the increase in the number of children on the site, the inconvenience caused by the clubhouse in the heart of Castelnau, and also the need to create a new space for the inhabitants of Castelnau-Montratier.”
Indeed, the building's infrastructure will be available to residents for the organization of various events.
A very popular site
He also recalled the number of visitors to the Moussur stadium: “ 140 children registered for Rugby, juniors and cadets of Rugby Quercy Lot, 90 senior licensees, 80 women licensees, 90 children registered in football, 48 volunteer football and rugby educators, 25 rugby-tag licensees, 85 volunteers and between 800 and 1,000 spectators every two weeks on the site. So it made sense to build this building.
The cost of the construction is approximately €859,860 with a contribution from the State of €247,358, the Region €100,000, the Department €122,192 and the municipality for €390,269 in the form of a loan” concluded Dominique Marin.
He took advantage of the opportunity to honor the memory of the three main founders of the COC: André Chazarenc, Arsène Malmon and Édouard Verdié.
Sporting values
The representative of Carole Delga, for the Occitanie Region, Geneviève Lasfargues, underlined that this achievement embodied a vision of the future to which the values of sport are linked.
Values also shared by the president of the Department, Serge Rigal, who declared “I was proud when I came to the stadium to see all these children.
This achievement corresponds to our desire within the Department to best help clubs that train young people who are instilled with the values of respect and discipline.
Senator Raphaël Daubet specified “the development is important and successful. This is important to keep associations and clubs alive.”
“The transmission of essential values for generations allows everyone to make their contribution. Sport is a vector of transmission. It allows us to transform those who practice it,” said MP Aurélien Pradié.
The final word went to the prefect of Lot, Claire Raulin, who recalled the fundamental values of the Olympics: “Faster, higher, stronger, together. This inauguration is placed under the sign of these Olympic values. I wish the COC every success.”
