A last-minute guest, Saturday, November 9, around midday, the drizzle prevented the skateboarding demonstrations planned for the skatepark's inauguration program. Located in Dupin Park, this new facility is in addition to the city stadium, street workout, football field and other break areas for practitioners, families and walkers. The Youth Space and the Autumn Friendships club complete this complex, thus creating an intergenerational bond.
This skatepark project, designed and carried out by the Youth Community Council of the Grenadois Country, in collaboration with Maxime, from the Hagetmau Roulette Brigade, and many practitioners, was the winner of the second edition of the Landes Citizen Participatory Budget , in 2021.
This made it possible to receive a grant of 40,056 euros from the Department, for a total cost of 60,084 euros, with the municipality of Granada contributing 20,028 euros. The work was carried out, wherever possible, by a majority of local craftsmen and contractors.
In collaboration with young people
After excusing Odile Lacouture, mayor, struck by a family bereavement, deputy Jean-Philippe Pédéhontaa underlined: “the excellent teamwork between the young people of the region, elected officials, administrative and technical staff”. He then congratulated the young people: “You have demonstrated that we can trust you, well done.”
For Agathe Bourretère, departmental advisor, “It is a pride to come and inaugurate projects emanating from the participatory budget, a co-development and co-construction which fits perfectly into an intergenerational project. It is a strong desire of the Department to support these young projects.”
Representing the president of the Community of Communes, vice-president Christophe Larrose recalled the genesis of the project and underlined “the perfect collaboration between elected officials, young people, technical services to carry out and finalize this idea of a skatepark, a very great success.”
