The visit to Nièvre by our national secretary, Fabien Roussel, took place ahead of the launch of the PCF campaign on industry and public services and our National Conference.
Fabien first went to the Municipal Health Center of Varennes-Vauzelles. In 2022, the municipality of Varennes-Vauzelles (with its communist mayor, Olivier Sicot), concerned about access to care for its residents, launched a deep reflection. With the worrying medical desert that we are experiencing in Nièvre, with an increasingly vulnerable population where access to care is becoming more distant (seventeen thousand Nivernaises and Nivernais without a treating doctor, three maternity hospitals lost in fifteen years, services emergency rooms which regularly close twenty-four hours due to lack of staff, etc.), the approach resulted in an ambitious project: the implementation of a municipal health center. This structure, managed by the city, offers doctors the possibility of working as a salaried team, with a status proving attractive because it guarantees simplified management of logistical and administrative aspects, all combined with longer working hours. flexible. For its financing, the municipality has decided to increase one point of property tax dedicated exclusively to the project in an additional budget, the time to reach (within two or three years) the budgetary balance of the structure.
Secondly, Fabien went to the Nevers-Magny circuit. This circuit, long dedicated to Formula 1, is today surrounded by a technology park bringing together around thirty companies and four hundred and fifty jobs in research and the automobile industry. Motor racing allows the development of new technologies which will equip the “all-public” vehicles of tomorrow, taking into account ecological issues. For example, the manufacturer Ligier, based on site, is working on the development of hydrogen engines. After discovering the history and behind the scenes of this circuit, Fabien met Bernard Delaporte, president of Danielson Engineering. This company located near the circuit produces parts meeting the requirements of the specifications of its customers in the Automotive, Aeronautics and Defense sectors. It is equipped with a design office, a foundry, test cells, machining and chassis assembly workshops which allows it to manufacture parts and engines on site from A to Z in small quantities. series. An example of the industrial wealth that our rural territories can host, which it is essential to defend and develop.
Fabien's day ended with a general assembly of the communists of Nièvre where he recalled the political context in which the National Conference is being held and the questions that all communists will have to answer at the end of this democratic process. on December 14.
