The first edition of the national women’s futsal challenge took place this Saturday, June 8 at the Charles-Cros gymnasium. 11 teams of five players from the four corners of France took part.

This Saturday, June 8, the Carcassonne Futsal Agglomération club organized the first edition of the national women’s futsal challenge. 11 teams made up of five players participated in matches lasting 12 minutes in the group stages and 15 minutes in the final phase.

This national tournament was a great first for the Carcassonne organizers. It is only the fourth organized on a national scale after those in Nantes, Paris and Metz. Around fifteen volunteers participated in the smooth running of the event, including five referees in order to raise awareness of this sport which has evolved over the years by bringing together several hundred players across France each year. Among the teams present during this tournament, we can cite the teams from Monaco, Toulon, Drancy, Grenoble, two teams from Toulouse and of course the women’s team from Carcassonne Futsal Agglomération. “Our tournament is a great success, both sportingly and humanly. All the teams gave us good feedback, particularly on the rapid organization of matches and on security. This tournament had a great impact on the city, the department and the region and that makes us want to do this tournament again next year”explains Jihed Tayebi, president of the Aude District futsal commission, co-coach of the Carcassonne Futsal Agglomération women’s team and organizer of the tournament.

On the field, the Carcassonne team had a very good run, finishing fifth in the tournament with a defeat in the quarter-final against the Toulon Élite Futsal team and winning the following matches to be best placed in the standings. . Furthermore, on the Aude side, the Trapel FC team managed to reach the final, finishing second in the tournament behind the winners, Espoir Club de Toulouse. “Our players were caught up in the stress of the competition, of playing against teams of a higher level on paper, but they defended our yellow and black colors loud and clear. Losing in the quarter-finals is bad for a team. good for our team which is still young and still lacks playing time against teams of the caliber of Toulon or Toulouse who were the favorites of the tournament”, explains Thierry Ramon, coach of the senior women’s team at Carcassonne Futsal Agglomération.
