SENEGAL-MEDIAS-PARTENARIAT / An APS-RTS convention to “revitalize the exchange of content” between the two media – Senegalese Press Agency

Dakar, June 19 (APS) – The national company Agence de presse sénégalaise (SN-APS) and Radiotélévision senegalaise (RTS) signed, Wednesday, a partnership agreement by which the two public media intend to revitalize their partnership in terms of exchange of audiovisual content.

The agreement initialed in the premises of the RTS by the general directors of the two media, Thierno Ahmadou Sy and Pape Alé Niang, is part of the revitalization of the relations which existed in the past between the two structures relating to the public service of the information.

According to Pape Alé Niang, this partnership will allow RTS to “build on the tremendous work” of the public agency in the audiovisual field.

“We wanted to be pragmatic with the APS which is in the process of carrying out important and colossal work at the audiovisual level with capsules and reports,” added the general director of RTS.

The audiovisual sector “must rely on a partnership system which must link the two public service bodies”, indicated Pape Alé Niang.

The APS, the public daily Le Soleil and RTS, all public media, have stopped moving together towards broadcast formats, to support the new government in its desire to further promote pluralism, announced Pape Alé Niang.

In this way, the three media intend to contribute to better popularizing the development policies and programs that the public authorities intend to implement for the benefit of the Senegalese people, according to Pape Alé Niang.

Thierno Amadou Sy, the director general of APS, congratulated his RTS counterpart for “his pragmatism, his understanding and his vision of the public information service”.

“The public information service has several challenges and challenges” to take up, he said, estimating that to do this, “we must move quickly”, which the new director general of the RTS has “very well understood,” said Mr. Sy.

“We have the same vision, that of strengthening the public information service,” he insisted, speaking of RTS, Le Soleil and APS, whose ambition is “to boost their presence, their professionalism in the service of the population”.

As indicated by the CEO of RTS, “we are moving towards combining forces, we are moving towards a common dynamic with major productions which will interest the Senegalese”, announced Thierno Ahmadou Sy.

He explains that the agreement signed by the RTS and the APS is a win-win partnership for both parties, “but especially for the Senegalese”, in that it constitutes “a leap forward” in the formalization of the exchange of content which took place between the two entities.

APS productions promoting “Senegal, from Dakar to the interior of the country, and beyond our borders with the diaspora”, will benefit from dissemination on a larger scale thanks to this convention, underlined Thierno Amadou Sy.
