Highly anticipated every yearthe 2024 ball was presented this Tuesday, November 12 by its creator, German engineer Mark Braun. He wanted to recreate the fruit of the cactus, prickly pearwith this ball made in seven colors.
“In the past, when there were none outside, we hung glass apples on the Christmas tree,” he explains. “I wondered what this fruit might look like in the future, and I thought of the prickly pear. When it gets warmer and warmer, maybe it's the cactus that will replace our Christmas trees. “
A rising price
The Kaktus ball has already started to come out of the Meisenthal furnaces. She will be published in 45,000 copiesand available from this Thursday at the glass art center. The 2024 Christmas bauble will also be on sale, like every year, at the Christmas markets in Metz and Strasbourg. The number of purchases per person is once again limited. This year, its price was increased by two euros to reach 26 euros. The community of communes of Pays de Bitche, which manages the site, ensures that this increase is necessary in the face of rising gas prices.
