The end-of-year celebrations are slowly starting to make a place for themselves in the daily lives of the French and the traditional distribution of firefighter calendars comes at this same time. But at the barracks Treffieux (Loire-Atlantique) have made prevention to counter the numerous scams of the previous year.
Scam in Loire-Atlantique: firefighters are working on prevention
Abusive canvassing has no season and persists over time. Scammers take advantage of certain residents, show up at their homes, pretending to be fake firefighters and took money from them for a fake calendar.
This is why this year, the firefighters from the Treffieux barracks are taking the lead and doing prevention so that the tour goes well, by establishing three important rules.
Three rules for dealing with scams
Rule number 1: the outfit. “Firefighters must wear their uniform and the departmental crest,” they inform on their social networks. It is therefore the first point visible as soon as the front door is opened.
Rule number 2: the gift. “Donating is FREE, you give the amount you want. It will be donated to the rescue center association in your municipality.” We must therefore ask ourselves whether a very specific sum is imposed by the interlocutor.
Last rule: the receipt. “A receipt must be offered to you in exchange for your donation.”
It is therefore always important to be careful when giving money. Make sure they are real firefighters.
