A few days ago, the Department of Aude honored a former unaccompanied minor who had become the best apprentice in France.
Originally from Bangladesh, Eftacar Mirza Hossainaged 20, was received on Tuesday, November 5 by Hélène Sandragné, the president of the Departmental Council of Aude, after having obtained the distinction of best apprentice in France in the kitchen.
Almost four years after his arrival in France, Eftacar Mirza Hossan, a former unaccompanied minor (UMA) monitored by the services of the Department of Aude, passed the competition for the best kitchen apprentice at the national level, on September 27. A box of kitchen knives was given to the young man on this occasion.
Excellence in cooking
His employer Jean-Pierre Blasco, chef of the restaurant L'Auberge des Lices, located in the heart of the City of Carcassonne, was also present for the occasion with the Audoise Federation of Secular Works (FAOL), the Chamber of Trades and the crafts of Lézignan-Corbières and the MNA service of the Department. As part of their competence in matters of social assistance to children (ASE), the Departments ensure the care of unaccompanied minors without any distinction.
Arrived at the age of 16 in France
Initially passionate about photography, Eftacar Mirza Hossan eventually turned to cooking. He thus joined the CFAI in Lézignan-Corbières within the FLE apprenticeship preparation system and then attended the Charles Cros high school in Carcassonne in CAP cuisine. It is by carrying out an internship at The Auberge des Lices that he developed his cooking skills.
Like all unaccompanied minors, Eftacar Mirza Hossan had to face numerous challenges upon his arrival on French territory: the language barrier, family estrangement and adaptation to a new culture. These achievements demonstrate his skills but also his commitment, his considerable work and his resilience.
